Message: Gary, I think you are quite a character... Looking for more info about your career I found that you wrote a journal for the 2000 Olympics... And even though it is old now, I enjoyed it so much... The entry by your girlfriend was extremely touching, oh man, that´s love...
I think you should write even more: that´s one way we can be more related to the athletes of this (newfound for me) great sport. When one has an idol one wants to know more and more of that person, and you can do it because your writing is very, very entertaining, gives us an inside view of the sport, but the bad part is that we are left begging for more...
Keep up the good work Gary! We are going to be rooting for you in the Olympics!!!

Daniel C.

P.S.: are there any high level meets held in Texas? I´d love to go and watch a swimming event (rooting for The Race Club, of course!!!)

Message: Dear Gary,

I am a senior at Michigan State University and am invovled in a program which works with disabled kids to develop their motor skills. I am in a swimming section with a 13 year old boy named David that has autism. It is ok to the point where he is able to do a whole lot when it comes to being in the water. His mother tells me that swimming brings him more joy than anything. I know that you help out in the community by spending time with children and I wanted to ask you a small favor for the kid that I coach. I know that you probably get more fan mail than anythign and it takes forever to respond, but I was curious if you could some how send a letter to him about how swimming is something that has brought you great joy, that it is something that has helped you lead a healthy life, and that by working hard you have only gotten to where you are because of hard work. I don't want to sound like I'm asking too much, but he is a visual type of kid and a picture of you be somet! > hing that he would absolutely love. I want to take this opportunity to not only teach him about swimming in the pool, but about its history and its greatest competitors. I am only 22 years old and you are one of the best that I have ever seen. I loved watching you go head to head with the "Russian Rocket" and look forward to seeing it again in Athens this summer.

Good luck and thank you.
Christopher Pyzik
