The Race Club Mission

The Race Club strives to provide different levels of support and visibility for elite swimmers including attending meets as a group while representing their club team, travel expenses to certain swim meets, obtaining equipment, media, sponsorships, and training camps.

About

The Race Club, Inc. was established in September of 2003 by Gary Hall, Jr. (8-time Olympic medallist).

In the summer of 2003 Hall was getting ready to begin his Athens 2004 push. His training and that of his training partners was to be funded by the Phoenix Swim and Sport Foundation (PSSF). PSSF is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that is chartered with helping elite swimmers achieve their dream of Olympic glory.

PSSF is the organization that funded the World Sprint Team that trained under Mike Bottom for the 2000 Olympics. Seven of eleven swimmers on that team made it on to the Olympics and both Anthony Ervin and Gary Hall won individual gold medals.

With the development of The Race Club, Hall came to the conclusion that PSSF will one day run out of money. Thus, a cycle that has been going on for more than 50 years will repeat itself - future swimmers will have to look for other philanthropic individuals to help fund their pursuit of Olympic glory.

Hall realized that by developing camps, clinics, videos, merchandise, and traveling together to events, programs that would benefit the entire swimming community can be established as well as various revenue streams in which the proceeds can then directly benefit elite swimmers... as opposed to relying on the deep pockets of generous individuals and organizations.

Additionally, by uniting swimmers from around the world and developing a swim schedule that elite swimmers can agree upon, The Race Club would establish a platform that sponsors and athletes can leverage for exposure.

The Race Club is a resource for financial support, exposure, and a platform by which elite swimmers can enhance their careers.
